History of Automotive Industry
If we see the history of automotive industry then we came to know that it began in the 1890s with hundreds of manufacturers that start the horseless carriage. Then for many decades United States was key player in this industry. U.s became dominated till 1980 then there is a shift in the industry.
U.S. was overtaken by Japan and became world’s leader again in 1994. In 2006, Japan fixedly passed the U.S. in manufacturing and held this position until 2009, when China took the top mark with 13.8 million units. With 19.3 million units manufactured in 2012, China approximately doubled the U.S. production, with 10.3 million units, while Japan was in third position with 9.9 million units.

China and the United States are counted among the main key players of automobile markets internationally in terms of manufacturing and sales. Worldwide sales of passenger cars are forecast 73.9 million vehicles in 2015. The United States became a key automotive market when Ford introduced assembly line car production in the early 1900s to mass-manufacture its Model T. Today.
The Ford Motor Company positions among the leading manufacturers of passenger cars. If we observe in terms of profits and returns, Toyota, Volkswagen and General Motors top the list of major automobile makers, while the automotive supplier industry is dominated by Bosch, Continental, Denso and Magna. 7.7 million Passenger cars were sold to U.S. customers in 2014, and around 4.25 million cars were formed in the same year.
Due to rising demands, the automotive industry is thriving very vastly and now contributing more in country’s economy.
